The Best Shoes for Golf: A Comprehensive Guide to Finding the Right Ones

Every golfer has a different style of play, and this is reflected in the type of shoes that they wear. There are many factors to consider when choosing golf shoes, such as foot size, shoe comfort level, grip on the course surface, and more. But don't worry! We've compiled all of the information you need to find your perfect pair right here. So without further ado: let's get started!

Type of golf shoes

Spiked Golf Shoes Spikeless Golf Shoes

There is a few benefits from wearing spikey golf shoes:

  • I can swing faster with less effort when wearing spikes
  • Spikes grip into the ground better than other types of footwear, which helps me keep my balance during long swings or chip shots off the green
  • It's important not only to have good equipment but also good clothes because they both go hand in hand when playing well on the course. That being said, I need spikes!
  1. Golf shoes are not required to have spikes
  2. Spikeless golf shoes offer a more natural feel when walking and running on the green
  3. The cushioning in the shoe provides comfort for those with sensitive feet or sore joints
  4. There is no need to worry about getting your shoe stuck in the ground because it doesn't have a spike
  5. Some people may find that they like these types of golf shoes better than traditional ones, even if they don't want to risk ruining their other clothes by stepping on them with spiked shoes
  6. Shoes without spikes can be worn off the course as well, making them perfect for rainy weather!

Material of Golf Shoes

  • Natural leathers are made from cowhide and are absorbent, so they dry very quickly. They also have a soft outer layer that makes them feel good on your feet for the whole round of golf. This type is not as durable though and can be expensive to buy at retail stores
  • Synthetic fabrics tend to give you the best value because it's cheaper than all other materials but still has many benefits such as water resistant properties or more breathability (so my feet don't get sweaty). You might see some brands who offer this material at $49-$59 in store rather than being overpriced like natural leathers
  • Breathable fabric shoes use mesh panels which allow air to circulate through  the shoe, so your feet don't get hot and sweaty. This is a good option for those who play golf in the summer months as well as winter. Some of these shoes come with an inner lining which can be taken out to give you more ventilation (especially if it's not humid outside)

What type of golfer you want to be

  1. Casual player:  want shoes that are comfortable and allow for movement. They don't mind a shoe with no spikes as long as it's flexible and allows them to move around easily on the course
  2. Recreational player: want a shoe that provides stability, has good traction, is durable enough for hard surfaces  and doesn't scuff their shots or make noise when they walk (it can be frustrating)
  3. Professional player: want a shoe that performs well in all weather conditions while also being supportive of your feet and back. A golf cleat is usually worn with these types of shoes but this isn’t necessary if you have thick socks to protect against blisters from rubbing up against the synthetic material over time

Things to consider:

  1. The most important thing to consider is the type of golf course you play on
  2. If you typically play in wet weather, choose a waterproof shoe
  3. For everyday use, find a shoe that has good traction and stability for walking around the course
  4. Make sure your shoes fit snugly so they don't come off when playing
  5. Ensure your shoes are breathable to avoid blisters or hot spots from developing on your feet
  6. Consider buying two pairs of shoes - one for rainy days and one for dry days

As you can see from our guide, there are a lot of considerations to make when selecting the best golf shoe. We hope that this handy buyer's guide has shed some light on what is important for your next purchase and will help take some of the guesswork out of finding just the best golf shoe for you
